RioBotz at BattleBots
The most traditional robot combat program of American TV receives this year the presence of the robotics team from PUC-Rio, RioBotz. The second season of BattleBots debuts on Thursday, June 23, in the American channel ABC.
RioBotz goes to the arena with a robot specially created for the competition, the Minotaur, 113 kg – weight limit allowed in the tournament. It was the only team in Latin America selected among more than 300 entries in the world selection process. The competition attracts from robots sponsored by major technology companies, to the university teams like RioBotz, the first Brazilian team to compete in BattleBots.
The program returned to TV last year after a break of thirteen, and has big names in its cast of presenters and guest judges such as Clark Gregg (The Avengers and Agents of Shield) and Adam Savage (Mythbusters). Besides Fon Davis, creative director of Star Wars and former UFC fighter Kenny Florian.
